Ed is passionate about helping with pain reduction, re-balancing the body and holding space so clients can focus on self-healing and improve overall well being. Self-healing and self-care is very important in our busy modern lives. Something as simple as focused breathing, body mechanics, attention to posture are the basics in self-care. Our workday bodies locked in static poses or repetitive routines can also contribute to structural misalignment. These basics can be used to alter the effects of our technology dependent lifestyles; our daily overuse of smart phones & computers, causing chronic patterns of tension and pain.
Ed is committed to further training, education and building on his current foundation of skills as a certified bodywork practitioner. To that end, Ed has successfully completed the Deep Flow curriculum ( Intro & Deep Flow Level 1 ). Deep Flow is a progressive approach to wellbeing; drawing on manual therapy, breath-work, the anatomy of movement and mindfulness principles, this alignment-based approach works with the integrity of the body in order to promote and balance structural, emotional and spiritual growth.
In Ed’s spare time he enjoys a variety of activities; tennis, cycling, visiting and supporting the Vancouver Art Gallery (member since 2009), spending time at the Vancouver Public Library reading for enjoyment and self-directed learning.

Swedish Massage is the modality or technique that comes to mind when people think of massage. It is the basic & best known type of bodywork performed in spas & clinics worldwide; the goal being relaxation for the entire body. Swedish massage uses a variety of strokes; slow, long , gliding strokes, short strokes where tissue is kneaded, squeezed or pushed, percussion-like tapping with finger tips or cupping with cupped hands, also using stretching and vigorous jostling movements. But Swedish massage therapy, while relaxing, can also be beneficial for increasing oxygen levels in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility. Depending on the rate and depth of these strokes this technique can have a relaxing or stimulating effect.
Aromatherapy is regarded as a complementary treatment in where blends of essential oils and carrier oils are used in massage for the purpose of altering one’s mood, cognitive, psychological or physical wellbeing. Two basic mechanisms are offered to explain the benefits of aromatherapy; one is the influence aroma has on the brain, especially the limbic area of the olfactory system; the other is the direct pharmacological effects of essential oils. A few benefits include stress and anxiety reduction, enhancement of short-term memory and senses, overall calming and relaxation effects. Studies have shown this to be true doing test with essential oils & placebos and then comparing the overall results with cognitive ability testing. For more info go to: Touch Research Institute website www6.miami.edu ( research abstracts ).
What are Essential Oils:
Essential oils are the result of steam distillation of aromatic plants and trees. They have been used for thousands of years to make incense, perfumes and have always played a role in religion and ritual. All essential oils used have been purchased from Essential Aura Aromatics on Vancouver Island from farms near Cobble Hill B.C
Fascia surrounds and wraps all the body’s structures; it is a connective tissue forming web-like netting structures around all organs, tissues and muscle through out the entire body from head to toe. Sedentary, static postures in our work lives or daily routines can influence fascia, creating holding patterns within the body’s tissues. Myofascial release has been known to be an effective and recommended treatment for most muscular/ tendon / ligament dysfunction. For more info go to: Healthline.com ( chronic pain> myofascial release )
Reflexology is the method of applying pressure to the feet with the intention of restoring and balancing the body back towards equilibrium. Reflexology focuses on the fact that healing happens through communication in the nervous system, necessitating that all the body’s systems work in balance and harmony. Because we are all unique, our bodies may differ in response to reflexology, in its attempt to re-balance its systems. The ultimate goal (holistic objective) is to regain a state of calm & relaxation, allowing the body to naturally move back into functional balance and overall equilibrium. For more info go to: the medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com (reflexology).

I have been seeing R.M.T.'s for years and suffer with multiple health issues that affect my muscles and can leave me quite debilitated for weeks. After my massage with Ed, I stood straighter and my back felt like it was sighing in relief for the rest of the day. In combination with relaxing music and earthy scented oils, this was the most satisfying massage experience I've had to date. I would recommend Ed to anyone looking for relief from pain or just a soothing escape from their daily stress.
